Total Hoist Services is a new company, formed in June 2014 by Thomas Ruane to help meet the growing demand for labour only services within the hoist and mast-climber industries. Thomas has spent all of his working life within the hoist industry and has worked all over the country and abroad on a number of high profile and exceptionally challenging projects. Although other companies offer services to the construction hoist sector Thomas saw a gap in the market for a reliable, discreet and trustworthy labour supply service.
Our expertise within the Hoist and mast-climber industry is unrivalled. We currently have 4 crews comprising of 2 engineers per crew. All of our engineers are fully qualified and time served, having all worked on a variety of different machines and locations. All engineers carry smartphones to ensure they always have the most up to date information on hand (Drawings, Method statements etc.) They all share our goal of ensuring all works are carried out in a safe, professional and timely manner.
We initially only provided a labour only install & dismantle service to our customers but due to exceptional demand and satisfaction with our work practices, we have expanded our business and are now able to offer a whole range of services to the construction hoist and industrial lift industry.
Dependent upon your business needs we can provide a simple labour only installation and dismantle service all the way through to complete project package, which would include: site surveys, engineering drawings, preparation of method statements and lifting plans, installation, thorough examination, hoist driver familiarisation, and the handover of the machine all whilst ensuring that all papework is completed and returned to our customer in a timely manner.

Some of our work
Installation of a 12/30 passenger hoist above a public walkway.
This Project was extremely challenging due to the limited space available on site. With the assistance of a Mobile crane the hoist was positioned above a public walkway on a specially designed scaffold platform – the hoist had to be placed exactly in the right position on the platform. Once positioned the installation was carried out using the hoists self erection crane (Manual install) to a total height of 74 m. Including the fitment of 22 landing gates, hoistway protection panels and a thorough examination this installation from start to finish only took a total of 7 days!
